Started Anatomy & Physiology last week...  a bit harder then some of the other subjects. ;-)

The ever present white-out.  It has come in quite handy!

Medical Vocabulary

I started my Medical Vocabulary this week.  So far, so good!  My father knows all of this stuff so he is a great source of information!

A couple of the Rules I've learned:

A General Rule
Latin roots are used to write words naming and describing structure of the body, whereas Greek roots are used to write words naming and describing conditions, diagnosis, and treatment.  As with most rules, there are exceptions.

Word-Building Rules > These helped me so much with putting together word roots and such!
Vowel usually retained between two combining forms.
Suffix begins with consonant -- usually retained
Suffix begins with vowel -- usually omitted
Most prefixes require no change when they are joined with other word parts.

Midwifery Vocab. Module 2

Working from C to F on Midwifery Terms.  :)  Lots of looking up definitions and then writing them down in my own words!

My favorite online search dictionaries right now are: MedicineNet, MiMi, and Google.  I compare the definitions on MedicineNet and MiMi and then if I still don't come up with a good definition- Google usually solves the problem!  :)

Scripture Study #2

Scripture Study for Module 2- the Book of Romans

For the second module of the Scripture Study, I once again studied the Righteousness of God through the book of Romans.  With lots of writing Scriptures down and reading!

A few key passages:

Romans 1:16-17:
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.  For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

Romans 6:
What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?  God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?  Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?  Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.  For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.  For he that is dead is freed from sin.  Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:  Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.  For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.  Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.  Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.  For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.  What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.  Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?  But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.  Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.  I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.  For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness.  What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death.  But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.  For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Romans 8:14-17:
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.  For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.  The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:  And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

Scripture Study #1

Scripture Study Module 1

I started my first module on Feb. 4th.  Currently, I'm doing a study on the Righteousness of God.

Here are some key passages I wrote for this module:

Matthew 5:13-16:
Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.  Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.  Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.  Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

John 8:31-36:
Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;  And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.  They answered him, We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free?  Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.  And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever.  If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

Beginning the Midwifery Journey

In San Antonio visiting with the adorable Daniel W. :)

I am doing a new midwifery course called "Yalad Midwifery Institute" which is currently working very closely with "Midwifery Institute of America".

I've always had an interest in midwifery since I was maybe 13 or younger.  As I got older- I explored many different options online, thought about starting a doula course through DONA International, other correspondence courses, and so on.  After my graduation I put midwifery on hold and did some other things.  Later on I heard about the doula course via ATI, but was about 4 months late. :(  Since they were not going to offer another course until the Fall of 201--I decided to start the Birth Doula certification process via and then after completing that enroll with the a long distance course- I was considering "Ancient Arts Midwifery".  But the Lord had other plans!  :)

Listening to GenerationsRadio all the time does indeed have it's benefits! Through one of the shows my mother and I listened to: we found out about a new midwifery school that is just starting up.  After praying about, all the ladies in our home enrolled (there was a group enrollment plan).

Looking back it's so amazing to see how the Lord orchestrated everything!!  There were so many times where I just wished I had everything now!  ;-)  It's been 2 years since my graduation from high school and over 8 years since I first wanted to be a midwife.  But God's ways are best!  One funny thing is that the lady's contact (in the radio show) was her email which was shiloh something.  :D  It has my name!!  :)

God is good!
