A New Year: Highlights from 2014

I realized the other day that I hadn't blogged since mid November and since now it's the final day of the year it seems appropriate to end 2014 with an even number of 20 posts....  :)  Here's a small glimpse into some highlights from 2014.  As the Psalmist says "My cup runneth over.  Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me..."-- I would echo those words as the Lord has been very good to me in 2014 and I'm looking forward with anticipation and excitement to a new year ahead.

Janruary>> Blessings of being apart of a wonderful congregation and rejoicing in the Lord!

Shabbat Smiles

Thrift Store Fun!

February>> Snowed in!!  Judah also had a very successful eye surgery which we praise the Lord for!!
A February Journal Entry: Entry #102 "The world will only use us and then trash us."  May we not be deceived-- the world does not love us-- they only "want" us.  Yeshua should be our love-- He loves us like no one else ever will-- He will never leave us or forsake us.  He should be our all.

Snow Fun!
Welcoming Judah home from the hospital

March>> Found us pretty busy!  I think my sisters and I will always remember fondly the master ballet class we took from one of the ladies from Ballet Magnifcat's Omega company. I still have the claim to fame that I completed the entire class....  which is more then some can say (you know who you are!). :)

Our film "I Named You Hope" was a finalist in ORTL's film contest.

April>> Has always been one of our most favorite months withe Christian Heritage Family Homeschool and Discipleship conference!  I was also blessed this month to play during our congregation's Passover sedar.  We also attended the wedding of a friend far away in Washington!!

May>> We were hopping with baby goats and milking goats!  I actually arrived in time to see one of my goats give birth and got to "help" her deliver her kid due to a complication she had.

I also loved taking a harp class taught by a celtic harpist, from Ireland, Grainne Hambly.  My siblings gave me one of her CDs so I'd listened to her music for quite a few years!  Learning by ear on the harp was new and challenging, but I enjoyed learning and hope to put some of those special Irish ornaments into more music in the future!  It was also wonderful to attend the wedding of a friend from Kansas!

June>> Still keeping up with the busy trend...  we attended a conference in June, had our cousin over for a few days, learned how to roller skate for the first time, and hosted a dance at our home.  Meanwhile I mostly studied Medical Vocabulary and put together my mother's curriculum for a sale as well as had another mom hire me to do it for her...  I still haven't decided if that was worth it!

I also learned how to cut hair for guys!!  Since then I've cut Judah's and Benjamin's hair and sometimes my father's hair! :)  For the record... girl's hair cuts are waaaaaay easier then guys!

July>> Looking back at 2014 July easily claims my most biggest highlight!  I was baptized on the 26th! :)

Other random July things included: learning that I was allergic to bee stings- not fun, but I learned that when there's a will there's a way so I still went swimming and then later freaked out my family with all the swelling that had occurred (no I will not be sharing the picture!)!  Attending a Family Camp in Bend- fun!  Walunngging (definition: a twist on the words walking, running, and jogging) a 5K- interesting.  Lots of family birthday celebrations- always fun!

I said who I was and made a public declaration of salvation: "I want to follow Yeshua!"

Family ~ Friends
A July Journal Entry: Entry #106:

August>> I can never get away from highlights in August because August is simply one of the BEST months ever!  In August I aged a bit (though people still think I'm in High School-- hmmm...  is that good or bad?), made tons of peach jam (some from peaches we picked ourselves), and  helped serve food and cake at a friend's wedding.
Meeting Messianic Artist, Ted Pearce!

Section from An August Journal Entry: Entry #107 Most of all~ I am Thankful for God's goodness this past year.  Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised and His greatness is unsearchable!

September>> We started September out playing for a local conference called "Love for Israel" that asked us to share some music.  I also loved going to a friend's wedding as well as being able to help them a little bit in preparation (I considered sharing a pic, but then scared myself by looking at them... only a special sister in Christ and my family got to see those!) for their reception.  Not to be left out....  I finally perfected a challah bread recipe (with no wheat!!) and started learning different braids.  So far 5 strands and 9 strands are my favorite!  Last, but not least I did an IDF Ice Bucket Challenge, but no one else took on the challenge when I past it on- so I realized how tough I really was....  maybe.

My own version of the 9-strand braid
October>> October brought us around to the start of many fun holidays!  We built our sukkot, but never slept in it since it rained waaay to much!  We did a family dressing up photoshoot-- each person depicting a character from one of our favorite TV shows, "Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman".  In my midwifery studies I finished one of the main modules by completely a book assignment- that was a highlight for sure!  It was great to be able to get lots of reading in this year (besides midwifery assignments!).  In the New Year that are some great book reviews coming up!  We also built lots of memories driving to the swim center where we teach swim lessons and then stopping at Freddie's on the way home to pick up ice cream for family Studio C night!   Last, but not least we were delighted to see Marty Goetz once again play in concert live and then dance to the very last piece, "He Is My Defense".

Midwife Charlotte Cooper, Singer Gilda St. Clair, Brian Cooper, Dr Quinn, Sully, Robert E, Grace, Dr. Andrew Cook, and Dr. Colleen Cooper Cook.
a *favorite* midwifery book!
Fred Meyers enormous t shirt section....  we are not only ones that have been caught laughing at the amazing size of the t shirts in this store!!

November>> We flew all the way to FL!  Due to winning a film contest earlier in the year which was a total surprise!  We won an expense paid trip to Disney World.  The highlights of November were meeting people at the National Bible Bee, Disney World, and attending Paul Wilbur's First Friday Shabbat.  Of course I shouldn't forget those special moments of flying in the airplane with my flying buddy, Judah (a.k.a. trying to convince him that he needed a nap!), learning to surf with my father and siblings at Cocoa Beach (you would have thought that 14 years in California would have already taught me that!), watching fireworks on main street, going down one of the world's largest free fall slides-- twice (and no one got a picture of me for future generations!), Chick-fil-A for the first time ever, and flying with a family of 9-- it's always an adventure-- we can't help it!  Here are just a few pictures~ hopefully someday I will post more. :)  We were also quite happy this month! :)

December>> 12 months later!  This December we've been blessed so much!  We made a Hanukkah music video and Bethany and I played for Hanukkah tea and dance in a Hanukkah dance presentation-- which brings me to the joy of celebrating Hanukkah with my family this year! :) :)  We ended December by playing some music at the Rest Home-- I enjoyed hearing all of my students play especially my very new and little students (which just happen to be related to me- I know, I'm biased!)!  Becoming a Supervisor this month and last month was an exciting rank to get to!

Section from A December Journal Entry: Entry #113 Nothing is too big for Him!  Nothing is too small for Him not to care!  I can cast ALL my cares on Him!  He loves me and HE WILL TAKE CARE OF ME!  THANK YOU, JESUS!
Judah makes me smile!

First Night of Hanukkah this year!  It was just me and the littles so we lit the first candle and then played dreidel...  :) :)

Last night of Hanukkah!

2014-2015>> Now I've finally made it to the current day...  I'm Thankful for a wonderful year of smiles and some tears, of learning together, and growing together.  When I look back over the year of 2014 and see the great things that the Lord has done and continues to do each and every day!!  I repeat at the Psalmist did Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

"May Adonai bless you and keep you.

May Adonai make his face shine on you and show you his favor.

May Adonai lift up his face toward you and give you peace."

Happy New Year!!
